The MBA Class B double elimination Final 8 has narrowed to 6 remaining teams and 2 undefeated heading to Labor Day Weekend. The Shakopee Indians VS Cold Spring Springers Friday 8/30 700PM at Delano in the undefeated (final 3) final of the double elimination 2013 MBA Class B State Tournament. Victoria of the RVL East/Section 3B was eliminated 7-2 by Eagan in their opener and 5-4 to Moorhead ensuring a new Champion in Class B for 2013. Cold Spring was defeated twice last Labor Day to the Vics finishing as Runner Up. In the losers bracket, matchups include Savage VS Moorhead Friday 8/30 500PM at Maple Lake and Austin VS Eagan Friday 8/30 730PM also at Maple Lake. The losers of these 2 games will be eliminated with winners squaring at 100PM Sunday 9/1 at Delano to advance to face the Shakopee/Cold Spring loser at 730PM to set the Championship on Labor Day 300PM at Delano.

In Class C action Belle Plaine of the RVL clipped St Benedict of the DRS 4-1 in a Scott County clash last week propelling Belle Plaine to the Final 16 of the single elimination tournament and playing Avon at Maple Lake Sat 8/31 1100AM. Fairmont took down DRS top seed New Market (PL Mudcats draftee Jake Schmidt) 4-2 in action last weekend. The two remaining Scott County teams in C tourney play will match up Sat 8/31 730PM in Delano when the New Prague Orioles of the DRS (PL Mudcats draftee Ben Morrison) and the Jordan Brewers attempt to advance to the Final 8. Other notable teams in the Final 16 include hosts Maple Lake and Howard Lake. The MBA Class C Final 4 will take place Sunday 9/1 500PM & 730PM at Maple Lake. In action last week in Class C, 43 year old Mike Adleman, a draftee from Clinton, threw a no hitter in Dumonts 2-0 win over Lamberton, the 20th in Tournament history (8/27 PATRICK REUSSE ARTICLE) . The Class C Championship will be played in Maple Lake Noon Monday 9/2.

UPDATE SUNDAY 9/1:

Shakopee of RVL/3B lost to Cold Spring Friday. Shakopee awaits Savage/Eagan Delano 5PM winner at 730 with survivor to rematch with Cold Spring needs 2 wins in the Championship Monday 3PM in Delano.

Jordan defeated New Prague 6-4 Saturday to advance to final 8. PL Mudcats pitcher/draftee had a fine showing in relief but picking up the loss. Belle Plaine also advanced to final 8 action Sunday 9/1 at Delano 11AM VS Howard Lake. Jordan VS Luverne 130PM. Both would play Sunday at Maple Lake (BP-500, Jordan 730) for a chance to play in Mondays high Noon Class C Championship at Maple Lake. The Scott County flamethrower KCHK1350 was reported to be continuing coverage of the Brewers tourney run.

UPDATE 2 500PM-Belle Plaine Tigers fight for 17 inning win over Howard Lake Orphans today, playing Winsted in Final 4 at 530 in Maple Lake Sun 9/1 to advance to the Championship on Labor Day. Jordan VS Luverne tied at 2 in the 5th inning (Broadcast on 1350AM KCHK-LIVE) with the winner to face the Sartell Muskies at 730PM in Maple Lake Sun 9/1 with that games winner to advance to Monday C Championship. Sartell wins 1-0 in 9th to advance over Jordan.

Savage VS Eagan 5PM Class B losers bracket game with winner to face Shakopee Indians (scheduled for 730 @ Delano) with Shako-Savage/Eagan winner to square with the Cold Spring Springers Monday 300PM needing 2 wins for the B Championship. Eagan Advances over Savage before losing to Shakopee 4-2 in 11 innings.

LABOR DAY 2013 UPDATE:

CLASS C: Belle Plaine Tigers VS Sartell Muskies @ Maple Lake NOON. Sartell 10-0

CLASS B: Shakopee Indians VS Cold Spring Springers @ Delano 300PM (500PM if needed) Shakopee will need to win twice to win the Championship. Shakopee 5-1 game 1, Cold Spring 8-6 in game 2 for B Championship.

SENIORS CONCLUDE CHAMPIONSHIPS & GAMES IN PL FOR ’13
The Prior Lake Mariners beat Menahgha/Sebeka Relics 10-4 to take 3rd place in Class AA at Jordan 8/24. The LeSeuer Legends captured the Minnesota Mens Senior Baseball Association Class B title defeating the New Hope Bandits 6-1 in Prior Lake to conclude the season at “The Vet” Sunday 8/25.
