The Mudcats game with the Minneapolis Blue Sox looked in doubt as showers moved through the South Metro but the showers passed and the game was on in exhibition action at the Vet 5/5/05.  The Prior Lake Mudcats gave the faithful a thrill scoring 5 in the 8th and 9th innings to tie the game and having the winning run at the plate in the extra frame in a 12-11 loss to the Minneapolis Blue Sox.  Starting pitcher Jason Schleip got the unexpected nod but was able to work out of several early jams in cruising through 4 innings, yielding a run in the 2nd inning.  The Cats had a commanding 5-1 lead through 4 complete but were unable to plate several stranded runners early that foreshadowed the close ending.  Schliep got into trouble in the 5th and was relieved by Bryan Bohnsack, getting his 1st game action of '05, who was unable to put the brakes on what would become and 8 run 5th for the Blue Sox.  The Mudcat defense, while greatly improved in effort and execution since their 9-3 loss to Montgomery, also contributed to the run total for the game with untimely errors that resulted in runs.  Bohnsack posted a scoreless 6th & yielded to newcomer Andy Koehler who was effective in 4 innings work.  A Mudcat “snowball fight” amongst the infield throwing the ball around led to both the 2 run 7th and eventual winning run in the 10th.   Jake Schmidt ripped a ball sharply to the infield and reached first but was unable to advance to tie the game in the 10th inning.
