Jays Drop 4-0 To Victoria

On Sunday the Jays traveled to Victoria to take on the Vics who had yet to play a game this season. It turns out that their lack of play didn't affect their game to a team that has already been through a handful of matches.

The Jays were unable to get the bats going which resulted in a 4-0 loss to the Victoria Vics.  The Jays continue in fourth place of the Blue Division in the Carver Central League.

The Jays faultered when it came to producing baserunners, reaching only nine times combining four hits with several walks and hit batsmen.  A bird never made it past second base to move into scoring position.

The Vics were quick to strike scoring two runs immediately in the first inning.  Jays starter, Andy Haugen was able to cut down the first two batters of the inning, but soon found it difficult as he walked the bases loaded.  A tough ground ball to third baseman, Billy Gabler, was bobbled and an attempt to throw a second runner out at home failed.

Consistent hitting in the fifth and seventh innings allowed the Vics to score additional runs and lengthen the lead in which the Jays would never recover.

The Jays continue on the road when they make a stop by Tuesday, June 8 for a 7:30 matchup against the Union Hill Bulldogs of the Dakota-Rice-Scott League.
