With Friday night’s win, and for the first time since 2009, the Jays will be back at the 2020 Class ‘B’ State Tournament taking place in Shakopee later this month.

In a nail-biter, Both teams were scoreless through the first two innings before the Jays put things in motion in the third, tallying five runs off of hits from Jonah Hoeg, Mitchell Goodwin, Corey Goodwin, and Jett Heinen. A sacrifice fly from Tommy Keating and a sacrifice bunt from Jeff Butler also aided in the efforts.
Ben Eisenberg got the call for the Jays, pitching six and two-thirds innings, allowing only two runs on four hits and striking out six.
The Indians began their charge in the fourth inning scoring one, and again in the seventh inning plating another off of two defensive errors by the Jays.
Everyone was on the edge of their seats as the Indians made one last attempt to pull ahead in the eighth, scoring two more runs. Reliever Jake Larson ran into some problems, walking four batters, striking out one, and allowing two runs in two-thirds innings of work.
Brandt Broderick came out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Broderick recorded the last five outs to earn the save for the Jays. Eisenberg got the win.
In total, the Jays scattered 13 hits in the game. Corey Goodwin, Jonah Hoeg, Joe Loftus, Mitchell Goodwin, and Jett Heinen all had multiple hits for Prior Lake. C. Goodwin led Prior Lake Jays with three hits in five at-bats.

RVL East Section Playoffs
The Jays will finish out the Section 3B playoffs to determine seeding for the State Tournament. Their next game will take place on Sunday, August 9th at 6:00 pm in Victoria, where they’ll meet up against the Vic’s.
Burnsville, Eagan, Excelsior, and Shakopee have all been eliminated. The final four from Section 3B that have earned state berths include the Chanhassen Red Birds, Chaska Cubs, Victoria Vic’s, and the Prior Lake Jays.
The winner of Sunday night’s game between Prior Lake and Victoria will take on Chaska Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The winner of that matchup will face Chanhassen for a potential Section 3B championship.
2020 Class ‘B’ State Tournament
With New Ulm withdrawing as hosts of the 2020 Class ‘B’ State Tournament, Shakopee has stepped in to take their place. All Class ‘B’ state games will be played at Joe Schleper Stadium in Shakopee over three weekends beginning August 21st.
