The Jays 2004 opener was cut short when severe weather moved into the area preventing the start of their game vs. the Arlington A's.
Rain couldn't prevent Mother's Day festivities from taking place however. Players moms that were on hand were invited onto the field where they were able to throw the first pitch out to their son. No injuries were reported.
Moms also received a rose for the event as well as free admission.
A special thanks to Al and Cindy Hoppe for coordinating this event and for their pinpoint timing in getting it done before the storms moved in.
With lightning in the area, the game could not start. By about 6:30 PM, strong thunderstorms and terrential rains began to fall.
PLABA Chief Meteorologist, Tex Chapman was on the scene: https://priorlakebaseball.com/gallery/default.aspx?CatalogID=74f3d9e3-4dff-470b-a666-6e6922fe5405.
