The Lakers finished 6th in the South Suburban Conference regular season standings at 9-8 just behind the Burnsville Blaze who clipped the Lakers twice in 2015 by a lone run including snapping a 4 game winning streak by PL in a makeup game Sat May 16 by a score of 4-3. Mudcats Hosting New Market Thur 5/21 & Faribault 5/23
The PL Mudcats of the DRS League “Class C” Townball have started 2015 with a 3-3 record and have 4 games in 7 days that may help chart the course of their season. MBA Class C State qualifier New Market comes to PL’s Vet Thursday in “FishFight I” for 730 action while the MBA Class C Final 4 team from 2014, Faribault Lakers travel in for a special 200PM game Sat 5/23. The ‘Cats lost a 3-0 lead late in Regional playoffs last season while Faribault went the distance advancing to Championship Sunday at Jordan before getting downed by eventual Champion Sobieski 2-1.

Jays Kick Off 2015 With Home Win VS Gaylord
The PL Jays due in part to youth turnover, started their season later in 2015 than in past seasons. Season vet TJ Larson, frsh off a tryout stint with the St Paul Saints, dominated the Islanders tossing 6 innings of shutout, no hit ball recording 15 strikeouts in an efficient 71 pitches. Jays newcomer Andrew Wilson follow up with a scoreless 1 hit 4 strikeout stint of the 7th & 8th while 2014 RVL All Star Nick Anderson struggled allowing 2 runs, walking 3 and striking out 1 Islander.
The Jays 1st run plated off of a leadoff double by 3B Brandt Broderick in the 3rd inning. He advanced to 3rd on a sac bunt by LF Jeff Butlerand RBI fielders choice by CF Jonesy Buescher who grounded out to 1B. The Jays plated their other 4 runs in the 5th frame on a solo 325′ clout over LF by Broderick to start the inning followed by a 1 out double by Buescher, 2 out walk to 1B Dan Schroeder, RBI single by SS Sam Kortes, RBI walk to DH Scott Geisler that forced a run and RBI single by cathcer Chris Sticha to complete the scoring and a 5-0 lead after 5 innings. Broderick, leading the nation in slugging %, had a 2-2 effort at the plate with an RBI also scored twice with an Homerun and gap double. Geisler was was 1-1with an RBI double, reached on balls twice and recorded the 1st stoled base by the 2015 Jays.
The Jays have Memorial Day Weekend off before hosting Fairfax Friday 5/29 730PM & New Ulm Sunday 5/31 600PM.
Al Johnson, Jeff Sinell, Quint Rowley & Cullen Rowley torched the field getting their names added to the Hoppe Trophy as 2015 Champions of the 2015 PL Jays Invitational Golf Tournament, “The Swarm Open” at Creeksbend Golf Club 5/16.
