MUDCATS WIN OPENER 4-3 OVER LONSDALE WEDNESDAY

The Mudcats open playoffs Wednesday night at Lonsdale 7:30. Game #2 is Friday in Prior Lake. Game #3, Sunday at Lonsdale if necessary.

The Mudcats defeated the Glencoe Brewers on Friday night behind the strong pitching of Ryan White with help from Bryan Bohnsack. White pitched 81/3 innings before leaving with a 3-2 lead and a man on second. Bohnsack struck out the next hitter and got a groundball to end the inning.
The Mudcats scored first in the fourth inning on a bases loaded walk to Luke Thompson. The two runs in the seventh scored after a Casey Johnson was hit by a pitch, Ryan Rose drew a walk. Sacrificed up by Ben Morrison, both scored on wild pitches. In the eighth, Morrison knocked in a run with a hit and Tony Adderly was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Leading hitters were Ryan Rose 4 BB, Morrison 1-3 rbi, Ryan Defries 2-4, Brad Schoenrock 1-2 2 BB.

The Muskies opened the scoring in the first inning with a two out homerun by Kyle Bergstrom. The Muskies tacked on another in the second before the Cats bats came back. In the top of the third, Luke Thompson singled, Casey Johnson singled, Sean Greywitt sacrificed them to second and third. Greg Faue singled to bring them home to tie it. In the fourth, Brad Schoenrock hit a one out homerun for a 3-2 lead. New Market tied it at 3 on a throwing error in the sixth. In the top of the eighth, Faue hit a one out homerun, Jake Lehrer singled, stole second. Nick Reed doubled him home to take a 5-3 lead. Bergstrom hit another home run in the ninth, but that was it off of Zach Lovera who pitched the final two for the save.
Mike Borgert-Poepping pitched the first seven innings. He was consistent in getting ahead, walking just one hitter.
