Mudcats off to 2-0 start; topple Bulldogs

The Prior lake Mudcats went head-to-head with the Union Hill Bulldogs and came out on top with a 13-4 win in their home opener this past weekend.

Union Hill jumped to a 4-0 lead in the 1st on a one-out double by Danny Beckius. Adam Gill singled, Eric Bisek walked. Beckius scored on a wild pitch and Adam Geisen hit a two-run double. Jeff Dietz singled in Geisen. That is all Prior Lake starter Ben Morrison would allow over six innings of work for the win. He allowed five hits.

The Mudcats scored four in the 2nd on five walks, a hit batter, and a single by Jake Lehrer chasing starter Hunter Piehl from the game. Dave Anderson relieved. The Mudcats added a run on an error, a walk, and a single by Justin Hackett. Two more runs came in the 4th on a Brad Schoenrock double. The Mudcats added one in the fifth on an RBI single by Jon Houston. Two more were plated in the 6th on a Cole Bjorge double. Levi Schneider capped the scoring with a two run single in the 7th. Jake Lehrer. Jon Houston, and Justin Hackett threw one inning each. Danny Beckius finished the final two innings for the Bulldogs.

The Mudcats take it back on the road when then travel to meet the Muskies of new Market for a 2 PM showdown on Sunday, May 8.
