Mudcats Snap Skid, Jays Swarm in 6 of Last 7 Games…

The PL Mudcats have been on the wrong end of close games thus far in 2012 dropping 3 of 4 games that went extra innings and facing 6 additional losses on 3 runs or less in a 5-11 record. The Mudcats lost in a makeup Tuesday 6/19 at Lonsdale 5-4 in 10 innings behind a strong start on the hill by Mike Borgert-Poepping yielding 1 unearned run in 6 innings. Brad Schoenrock was unable to hold off the Aces with the lead and relented to Season Greywitt who took the loss giving up 1 run in 3 innings of work. The ‘Cat bats were led by Gary Mariscal with 2 hits. The locals bounced back winning late hosting Veseli in PL on Wednesday 6/20 in DRS action and silencing the cowbell with a needed 4-3 WIN. Gary Mariscal led the ‘Cats with 3 hits and 2 stolen bases (Team 7 of 8 SB%). Cole Bjorge led the fishattack with 2 rips. The deciding run in the 8th was produced by a single from catcher Levi Schneider who advanced to 2nd on a hit by Tony Adderley then stoled 3B and scored on Cole Bjorges RBI double. Jake Schmidt went the distance yielding 3 unearned and scattering 6 hits.

The Jays snapped a 5 game win streak splitting with a 1-1 record in pool play at the 25 Annual Dewey Tauer Invitational Tournament at Red Wing and Miesville 6/16 with a big 11-1 7 inning win over St Francis and getting 3 hit by Red Wing in a 3-0 loss. The Jays game 1 was moved up to 1130AM due to early rain Thursday and game 2 started late after 930PM (7PM scheduled start) but was played in a brisk sub 2 hour pace in a pitchers dual. The Jays rebounded from the loss travelling to Chaska Athletic Park Tuesday 6/19 for a big Section 3B/RVL game vs the Cubs. The PL Jays started scoring in the top of 1 on a 1 out solo blast by Jays SS Corey Goblirsch off of Cub starting pitcher Ryan Seifert. The host Cubs answered with a 1 out walk by 3B Kyle Geason that was scored on a sac fly from 1B Josh Korth in the bottom of 4. The Jays plated Mullenbach and Jim Schroeder in the 5th on 3 hits capped by a RBI double by LF Dusty Olynyk. Seifert threw 7 yielding 4 runs and Dolan threw a scoreless 8th and 9th giving up 3 hits and a walk. the Cubs were not able to answer PL Jays starter TJ Larson who bagged the complete game win scattering 5 hits striking out 14. Dusty Olynyk led the Jays at 4-5 with a double and RBI with Catcher Sam Hoppe 2-4 2 doubles and an RBI and Jim Schroeder 2-5 scoring 1 and 1 RBI. The Cubs were led by Ben Alexander 2-4 with Poppitz, Oscarson and Glieden chipping in a hit and Kyle Geason scoring their lone run. The Jays kept pace with Victoria at 3-1 in the Section 3B seeding games for playoff position with Shakopee and Chaska needing wins to catch them in the Division/Section.
