Mudcats to play St. Patrick for State Berth Wednesday

The Prior Lake Mudcats beat the Cannon Falls Bears 3-2 Sunday. The win puts the ‘Cats in a game against St. Patrick on Wednesday @Veseli 8:00 PM for a berth in the State Tournament. The loser will have a game with the winner of New Market and CannonFalls on Friday night.

The Mudcats were led by the complete game of Jake Schmidt. Jake struck out five and gave up two unearned runs in the fourth. The Mudcats led their comeback with a solo home run by Tony Adderley in the seventh. The ‘Cats added two in the eighth on a lead off walk to Noah Rezac, a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Rose with an error that sent Rose flying and Rezac to third. Rose was okto stay in the game. Jake Lehrer hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Rezac. The throw from center back towards first went into the dugout, advancing Rose to third. On an appeal attempt, the Cannon Falls pitcher balked scoring Rose. Leading the way for the Mudcats, were Tony Adderley, Justin Scliep, Ryan Defries and Levi Schneider with two hits a piece. Jake Schmidt was Dominant on the hill throughout.
