Mudcats win 6th Straight, 8-5 in DRS. Jays 2-1 in Section 3B, Rained Out Tues.

MUDCATS STREAK AT 6 WINS

Cats take three on the weekend & last night @ Shakopee, now 8-5, 3-1 in the Division.

Game ended with bases loaded and  a dribbler to first.  Nick Johnson(PL)  dove and tagged Josh Gregor before he could get to first.

The Mudcats put together a solid effort by scoring early off of St. Patrick miscues.  Clutch two out hitting scored two runs in the third and three in the fourth.  Kyle Hoover had three hits, Casey Johnson  and Noah Rezac each two hits.  Nick Johnson had a three run double in the third.   Mike Borgert-Poepping pitched 7 2/3 innings for the win.  Brad Schoenrock got the final four outs to seal the victory.

Ben Morrison pitched a complete game, giving up four unearned runs in the first.  Morrison settled in striking out seven and yielding six hits.  Noah Rezac capped a four run fourth for the ‘Cats with a three run double with two outs.  Single runs in the fifth, eighth, and ninth helped the Mudcats to a key Divisional win.  Ben Schmidt and Kyle Johnson each had two hits for the Mudcats.

The Mudcats came back from a 2-1 deficit with three runs in the eighth and four in the ninth to win at New Market 8-2.  The rally started with a one out walk to Greg Faue, Zach Lovera pinch ran.  Casey Johnson singled, Lovera to second.  Jake Lehrer doubled to score Lovera, Johnson to third.   Kyle Johnson delivered a two run single to put the Mudcats ahead for good.  In the ninth Ben Schmidt led off with a hit, Noah Rezac singled.  A sacrifice by Nick Johnson put Schmidt at third and Rezac to second.  A walk to Faue and Casey Johnson delivered a sacrifice fly, scoring Schmidt, Rezac to third. 

The Mudcats play at Rosen in Border Challenge Series 2009 June 20-21st.

The PL Jays swarmed for 5 runs in the 5th inning to cruise to a key Section 3B win despite some uncharacteristic defensive errors.  Second baseman Jim Schroeder scored 2 runs and had an RBI double in the 5th going 1 for 5 with a stolen base on the day. Firstbaseman Scott Geisler was 0-2 on the day but reached on balls twice and scored twice while Tim Garceau DH’d and went 2 for 4 scoring twice and ripping a solo home run to LF.  3rd baseman Dusty Olynyk knocked in 2 runs in a 1-4 effort.  Shortstop Corey Goblirsch scored once and was 3-4 with a run scored.  Kyle Zweber tossed 6 innings striking out 4 and walking 3 but yielded just 1 earned run and got the win for the Jays. Tony Eicher, coming off an injury got his 1st action for the ’09 Jays throwing the 7th and 8th and Marshall Mullenbach faced 4 in a scoreless 9th inning to bag the save.

The Jays @ Jordan in Section 3B/RVL action on Tuesday 6/16 was rained out with date for makeup TBD.  The Jays travel to Shakopee Friday 6/19 730PM Action at Joe Schleper Stadium VS the Indians to wrap their 2 games in Section 3 for '09 regular season and take it on the road Sunday 6/21 for games at Henderson 2PM & LeSeuer 6PM in the River Valley League.
