The #6 seeded PL Lakers (12-8, #20 QRF) will commence the 2016 MSHSL playoffs travelling to Eden Prairie (12-8, #10 QRF) to square with the 3rd seeded Eagles to commence the 8 team, double elimination tournament. Higher seed will host throughout so the Lakers, who were 0-4 in Section play, will need some help to host a game at the friendly confines in PL. The Lakers were 0-2 VS #7 Shakopee in the regular season and dropped a 4-1 at Minnetonka and 3-2 at Chanhassen to wrap the regular season. PL started the season 5-0 before dropping 3 of 4 in an up & down season under Coach Greg Nesbitt.
Expected to start game 1 of the playoffs for PL is the high touted pitcher Nick Hanson who garnered Gatorade Player of the Year in Minnesota and is slated to attend the University of Kentucky as well a likely choice in the upcoming MLB draft. Hanson was clocked topping at 98MPH in the loss to Minnetonka 5/24. Should the Lakers prevail, they will travel to Minnetonka 6/2 or host Shakopee 6/2 depending on that games outcome. Should EP win, location and time TBD for the Lakers in the losers bracket.
