Post 447 LakerLegion to Host State American Legion Tournament

By Joseph Chapman

The State American Legion Baseball Tournament will feature four games at Shakopee Joe Schleper Stadium and Veterans Field/Memorial Park in Prior Lake Thursday, July 28 with Burnsville serving as the host site for all remaining games including the Championship.  Prior Lake last hosted in 2008 with games taking place at Thomas Ryan Park and Veterans Field.

This year’s event was delayed by the Covid19 delay with St Cloud serving as host last season.  Minnesota is the largest participant in American Legion Baseball in the US.  The Vet Cafe concession will have many special food and drink items at family-friendly pricing, NO CARRY ON food or drink is permitted.

Veterans Field is the home of the: Lakers (MSHSL, SSC), Jays (MBA Class B townball), Mudcats (MBA Class C townball), Mariners (MSM over 35), Bald Eagles (M50+) as well hosts games for PLAY 14/15s and has served as the host site for Tournaments at all levels with 120-150 games played annually.  Operations are led by the PLABA.
