Section 3B Playoffs: Tuesday craziness ensues; Jays need a win to skirt elimination

By Justin Braun

The hometown Jays, who lost 7-2 to Shakopee in the first round of Section 3B playoffs last Sunday, will make the trip to Poppitz Field in Victoria tonight (August 2) to take on the Victoria Vic’s (6-8) in an elimination game.  The Jays, who were 3-10 on the season and 0-2 against Victoria, failed to establish some consistency in their offense in Shakopee and need to turn things around to extend their 2023 season.

Elsewhere in Section 3B playoffs, The #1 seeded Burnsville Bobcats (11-2) were downed by the #4 seeded Young America Cardinals (7-5) on Tuesday night at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville.  Young America’s Josh Lenz threw a complete game, locking up the 8-1 win for the Cardinals.

In other Tuesday playoff weirdness, the #2 seeded Shakopee Indians (10-4) withered away a three-run lead to the #3 Chaska Cubs (6-5), giving up five runs in the eighth and going down in the ninth with runners in scoring position by a final score of 9-7.
