Mee Added to Minnesota Twins Hall Of Fame

Prior Lake resident Tom Mee has been selected to enter into the Minnesota Twins Hall Of Fame in a ceremony Friday 6/14/2013. Tom is a long time former Director of Media Relations and one of the Twins early employees upon moving to Met Stadium and becoming the Minnesota Twins. AJ Mee, grandson, is a member of the PL Mudcats and Tom had sons Tom Jr., John, Tim and Joe play in Prior Lake having graduated from PL High.

Mudcats Streaking Through DRS

PL Mudcats run streak to 8 of last 9 winning in the Dakota Rice Scott league with 5-1 win over Union Hill Thursday 6/13 at the Vet in Prior Lake. Mike Borgert-Poepping went the distance for the streaking Mudcats yielding 3 hits against the Bulldogs while Levi Schneider stayed hot with the stick in a 2-4 batting effort. Andrew Weiers was the loser for UH on the mound. No word on resolving the detergent shortage in Southern Scott County. NEXT UP: Fri 6/14 @ Cannon Falls Bears 730PM (non league exhibition) LOST 11-10 in 10 innings-LP-Rezac. and Sunday 6/16 @ Webster Sox 200PM (DRS League game).

Jays Split in 2 Close RVL Games

The host Chaska Cubs welcomed the PL Jays to Athletic Park 6/9 with a nice crowd to kick off the Section 3B seeding portion of the 2013 schedule and posted their 1st run early as Tony Lane reached on an error and scored on a Kyle Geason double in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Jays escaped the 1st stranding 2 Cubs on a sliding dive in right field by the Jays Adam Cress for the 3rd out. The Jays answered Chaskas 1st inning run in the top of the 2nd when pitcher Kyle Zweber was drilled by a Pete Ohnsorg pitch and sacrificed bunted to 2nd by secondbaseman Jim Schroeder. Catcher Jake Pieper laced a 2-0 count offering to right field scoring Zweber. With the score 4-1 Chaska, Jays centerfielder Tony Doherty knocked a gap double with 1 out and scored on a 2 out double by thirdbaseman Dusty Olynyk. Prior Lake threatened in the 9th with a leadoff rip by relief pitcher Chris Kelly who advanced to 3rd base on groundouts by Jim Schroeder and Jake Pieper but was stranded as a total of 6 stranded on base for the game. Zweber was tagged with the loss yielding 1 earned run in 6 2/3 innings worked striking out 4 and walking 4 Chaska batters. Chris Kelly yielded 1 run in 1 2/3. Batting leaders were: Doherty 2-4, Run, double, Olynyk 1-3, RBI, double, Pieper 1-3 RBI, double, Kyle Zweber 1-2, Run and Kelly 1-1.

The visiting Henderson Tigers hung tough with the Jays getting clipped 5-3 at PL Veterans Field on 6/11. Dan Schroeder bagged the win tossing 5IP giving up 2 runs on 2 hits with 3K. Pat Galvin got the save working 4 yielding 1 run and striking out 5. Joe Hank got the loss for Henderson pitching 5. The Jays plated runs in the 1st, 4th and 6th with 2 in the 5th to provide the margin with the Zweber bros (Kyle 2-4, Run, 2B and Reed 2-3, Run) leading the production. Chris Sticha was 1-4 with an RBI scoring Kyle Zweber in the 4th. Dan Dahn led the guest Tigers with a 1-5 effort on a 2RBI single in the 4th giving the Tigers the temporary 2-1 lead. Matt Nagel was 1-2 with an 8th inning RBI and 2 walks. Hank was tagged with the loss with Leary and Captain Jack Swanberg also seeing the hill for the Tigers.

The Jays kept pace in the RVL overall standings with a 5-1 record trailing 7-0 Chaska but down in Section 3B race after the 4-2 loss at Chaska Sunday 6/9. The 9 game Section 3B seeding schedule will seed teams for a best of 5 game series among Section 3B teams (Chaska Cubs, Shakopee Indians and Victoria Vics). Victoria was the MBA Class B Champion with Chaska finishing 3rd in 2012.

Jays to Host Military Appreciation Day 2013

Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the pre-game festivities (710-725PM) will also include recognition of former Prior Lake Laker Alumni and current Jays catcher Jake Pieper who has been selected and will be departing to the US Navy as an officer candidate in aviation.
