Jordan Brewers defeated the Prior Lake Jays 10-4 on Tuesday, thanks in part to a six-run fifth inning.
The Brewers began the scoring in the second inning when Michael Vohnoutka singled, bringing in one run. In the top of the fourth, Dylan Peterson hit a solo home run to left field, adding another run for the Brewers. The Brewers exploded for six runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. An error allowed one run to score, Turner Storm singled to drive in another, Peterson hit a sacrifice fly to bring in one run, Vohnoutka followed with another sacrifice fly, and Joe Lucas capped the inning with a single that brought in two runs. In the top of the eighth, the Brewers scored two more runs on a home run to left field by Storm.
Sam Brower started on the mound for the Prior Lake Jays, surrendering five hits and six runs (three earned) over four innings, while striking out three and walking two. Hunter Hoen took the mound first for the Brewers, giving up four hits and two runs (one earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking two. For the Jays, Dustan Green, Nate Bodine, and Beau Rabey each drove in one run.
The Brewers tallied nine hits in the game. Storm, leading the middle of the lineup, went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Steve Beckman drew three walks, contributing to the team’s total of seven for the game. Afton Koch stole two bases as the Brewers ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases.
The Jays are back in action on Saturday, July 20th when the Eagan Bandits come to town for a 1pm tilt. This is a rescheduled game and Eagan will be the home team.
Then come on down on Sunday, July 21st for Prior Lake Jays Fan Appreciation Night when the Jays welcome the Shakopee Indians in a Section 3B matchup. First pitch is slated for 6pm.
