Jays drop to Vic in the 8th

Friday’s game against Victoria Vics was a heartbreaker for Prior Lake Jays, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the eighth when a passed ball scored one run.

Prior Lake Jays opened the scoring in the second after Luke Rabey drew a walk, scoring one run.

Carter Schmidt singled, which helped Victoria Vics tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.

In the top of the fifth, Prior Lake Jays broke up the tie when Brady Baur drew a walk, scoring one run. Then a single by Matthew Johnson followed to extend the lead to 4-1.

Victoria Vics took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning after Schmidt singled, Jamo Quinn walked, and Victoria Vics scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Corey Binger earned the win for Victoria Vics. The reliever surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Ross Hebel took the loss for Prior Lake Jays. The reliever went one inning, surrendering three runs (zero earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Sam Brower started on the bump for Prior Lake Jays. They gave up eight hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking none. Quinn started the game for Victoria Vics. They gave up seven hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking six. Jeffery Kressler earned the save.

Lance Goeschel and Johnson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Prior Lake Jays. Rabey and Johnson each drove in one run for Prior Lake Jays. Prior Lake Jays had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Beau Rabey and Rabey led the team with two bases on balls each. Prior Lake Jays turned two double plays in the game.

Victoria Vics tallied 10 hits in the game. Schmidt drove the middle of the lineup, leading Victoria Vics with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Schmidt, Josh Costello, and Dean Kamann each collected two hits for Victoria Vics. Kamann stole two bases. Victoria Vics turned two double plays in the game.
