Jays Playoff Hopes Dented with 5-1 Loss to Bobcats; Face Elimination

The Prior Lake Jays were defeated 5-1 by the Burnsville Bobcats on Sunday, despite out-hitting their opponents eight to seven. Nate Bodine and Beau Rabey each collected two hits for the Jays, showing strong individual performances at the plate.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Bobcats broke through with two sacrifice flies. The first run was driven in by Aaron Pfaff, who hit a sacrifice fly to put Burnsville on the board.

Sam Brower started on the mound for the Prior Lake Jays, delivering a solid performance. Brower allowed five hits and four runs over six innings, striking out one and walking one. For the Bobcats, Connor Hartley took the hill first and dominated the Jays’ lineup. Hartley pitched eight innings, giving up eight hits and one run while striking out nine and walking none.

Ross Hebel led the Jays with one run batted in, going 1-for-4 on the day. Despite the loss, the Jays displayed moments of strong hitting but struggled to convert hits into runs.

For the Bobcats, Tyler Hill and Ben Meuser each collected two hits. Pfaff, Zach Andreasen, Meuser, and Tim Urlaub each drove in a run, contributing to Burnsville’s balanced offensive attack. The Bobcats also showcased aggressive baserunning, stealing five bases during the game.

Looking ahead, the Jays face a crucial elimination game against the Chanhassen Red Birds on Wednesday, July 31, at 7:30 pm at Veterans Field in Prior Lake. With their season on the line, the Jays will need to bring their best performance to stay alive in the competition.
