Troy Lynch collected four hits in four at-bats as Prior Lake Jays defeated the Chanhassen Red Birds 11-4 on Wednesday. Lynch doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings. The Jays were the first to get on the board in the first inning when Lynch doubled, scoring one run.
The Jays scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jonah Hoeg singled, scoring one run; Isaac Heilman singled, scoring one run; Sam Brower doubled, scoring two runs; and Tomas Lee doubled, scoring one run. RBIs abound!
Charles Running earned the win for the hometown Jays. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking two. Matthew Magnuson took the loss for the Chanhassen Red Birds. Magnuson went four innings, surrendering six runs on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Blake Helberg tossed one and one-third innings of scoreless ball for the Prior Lake Jays in relief. He allowed two hits, striking out one and walking two.
The Jays piled up 12 hits in the game. Brower collected two hits in four at-bats. The Jays were errorless in the field.
Andrew Mahlke went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Chanhassen in hits. Johnny Checheris led the Red Birds with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day.
The Jays are back in action on Thursday, July 13th, when they take on the St. Louis Park Pirates in exhibition action at Veterans Field in Prior Lake. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
