Prior Lake Laker Legion’s Playoff Hopes Dashed by Post 377 Defenders

In a strong pitching duel on Thursday, Post 377 Defenders Senior Legion narrowly edged out Prior Lake Laker Legion with a 3-1 victory, finishing their season with a record of 17-11 in American Legion Baseball. This loss eliminated Prior Lake Laker Legion from the Substate playoffs, ending their season.

Prior Lake Laker Legion opened the scoring in the second inning when Ryan Block singled, driving in one run.

In the top of the fifth inning, Post 377 Defenders Senior Legion regained the lead. Cael Olson hit a sacrifice fly, Mason Henry walked, and Ethan Engelmann singled, each contributing to one run.

Greg Schonhoff started on the mound for Prior Lake Laker Legion. He pitched six innings, allowing four hits and three runs, while striking out five and walking four. Teague Collings was the starting pitcher for Post 377 Defenders Senior Legion. He threw seven innings, allowing four hits and one run, striking out five and walking four.

Ryan Block led Prior Lake Laker Legion at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one RBI. Block, Owen Bredeson, Hayden Anthony, and Drew Burley each collected one hit. The team played error-free in the field, with Jaymin Eischens leading in defensive chances with six.

For Post 377 Defenders Senior Legion, Carter VanBeusekom, Jimmy Stigman, Owen Stowman, and Ethan Engelmann each recorded one hit. Henry, Olson, and Engelmann each drove in a run. The team also turned a double play in the game.
