By Justin Braun

The Shakopee Indians secured a decisive 11-0 victory over the Prior Lake Jays on Thursday, bolstered by a six-run fifth inning.

The Indians opened the scoring in the third inning due to a fielding error that allowed one run. However, the fifth inning proved pivotal, with Shakopee tallying six runs on four hits. The offensive surge was ignited by Cade McGraw and Ryan Boldt drawing walks that each brought in a run. Steve Boldt’s single added another run, followed by Dominick Schleper’s two-run single. Jack Schleper capped the inning with a sacrifice fly, bringing in the final run of the inning.

In the sixth inning, McGraw extended the lead with a solo home run to left field.

Pitching for the Indians was Jaden Case, who earned the win by pitching a hitless, scoreless inning, striking out two and walking one. Ross Hebel took the loss for the Jays, pitching four innings and allowing one run (zero earned) on two hits, with three strikeouts and one walk.

The Jays offense was limited, with Lance Goeschel, Ross Hebel, and Henry Brandt each managing one hit. For Shakopee, Kolin Williams and Joe Roder both collected two hits. McGraw led the team with three RBIs, despite going 1-for-4 at the plate, while Roder drew two walks, highlighting the team’s patience with six walks overall.

Defensively, the Indians were solid, committing no errors and turning a double play.

The Prior Lake Jays now look ahead to the Section 3B playoffs. As the #6 seed, they will face the #3 seed Burnsville Bobcats on Sunday, July 28, at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville. The first pitch is set for 6:00 pm.
