TOWNBALL Updates: 'Cats Clip Mallards 12-11, Jays Pick Up 2 Non Leaguers.

7/25-Veseli loses to St. Patrick 5-3.  Mudcats Tied with Veseli 11-9, hold tie break.

7/24-The Prior Lake Mudcats rallied for three in the ninth to keep their hopes alive for the second seed with a big 12-11 win over the Montgomery Mallards Thursday 7/23 at the Vet in Prior Lake.  The 'Cats are set to square with Veseli 7/29 with the site to be determined based on final game at Webster and Veseli's remaining 2 vs St Patrick 7/24 and Union Hill 7/26.

7/22-In a game only set the day before,  Glencoe avenges an earlier loss to the Mudcats.  A well played game inside the cozy confines of Young America's Park saw a quick, and clean game dominated by the pitchers.  Three home runs accounted for some of the games runs, the rest left to Zach Lovera.

Prior Lake Mudcats lost to the Glencoe Brewers 5-4 on Wednesday night in Young America. 

Glencoe scored first with a fielders choice in the first inning off Mudcat Starter Nick Johnson.  Glencoe added two more in the third on a two run homer by Dan Ford. 

Prior Lake rallied with two in the fourth with a leadoff home run by Nick Johnson and a two out double by Zach Lovera scoring Ryan Gothmann.  Glencoe answered with a solo shot in the fifth by Jason Schade, who had two hits.

The Mudcats came back with a two out rally in the 8th.  Kyle Hoover walked, Casey Johnson singled, Jake Lehrer walked.  Zach Lovera again delivered with a two out single to tie the game.  The 'Cats loaded the bases in the ninth, but could not score.

In the bottom of the ninth, Jake Lehrer walked the leadoff man.  The next batter bunted into a fielders choice.  A ground out advanced the runner to third.  With two outs the next hitter walked.  A wild pitch on a 2-2 count allowed the winning run to score.

A good fight by the Mudcats.  Nick Johnson pitched seven strong innings allowing just three hits and four runs.  Nick struck out eight.  Jake Lehrer pitched the final innings.

7/24-The PL Jays picked up games Tuesday 7/28 hosting Lakeville at  PL Thomas Ryan #1 730PM and hosting Elko on Monday 8/3 730PM at PL Veterans Field of Memorial which will also be Fan Appreciation 2009 with prize drawings and concession specials for fans in attendance.

7/21-PL Jays continue non league series with Union Hill of the DRS League and cruise to 7-2 win.  Marshall Mullenbach started on the mound for the Jays and got the “W” scattering 7 hits and striking out 2 while giving up 2 runs with no walks in 5 innings work.  Tony Eicher followed suit tossing the final 4 frames scattering 3 hits and yielding no walks or runs while striking out 8 Bulldogs, 3 in the 9th inning.

The Jays plated 3 in the 2nd inning 1 run in the 4th, and 6th-8th innings and played the defense to keep the hosts down.  Leaders with the stick were Tom Giles 3-4 performance with a double, 3 runs scored with a stolen base and RBI, Sam Hoppe was 2-5with a RBI and run scored and Tony Doherty was 2-4 with a stolen base.  Marshall Mullenbach, winning pitcher, was 0-4 at the plate but walked and reached on an error leading to 2 runs scored.  Adam Cress has an RBI double to plate the final run in the lone at bat of the 8th.
