The Prior Lake Mudcats were defeated 2-1 by the Fergus Falls Hurricanes Saturday 8/25 ending their 2012 season with a record of 21-21. All scoring was in the 1st inning in the dual as ‘Canes pitcher Adam Johnson struck out 10 scattering 5 hits and walked 2 while Mudcats hurler Jake Schmidt yielded 6 hits and struck out 6 while walking 2 in the losing effort. Both pitchers tossed complete games and runs scoring in the tilt were unearned. Mudcats OF Gary Mariscal tallied half the Mudcat hits going 3-4 scoring their lone run. The St Patrick Irish of the DRS were dropped 6-4 to Bird Island while the Jordan Brewers of the RVL were bounced 5-1 by Lastrup. The Final 16 of Class C starts Friday 8/21 and concludes Labor Day with a Champion crowned with the RVL & DRS on the sidelines in the 48 team single elimination MBA Class “C” Tourney.
The Chaska Cubs of Section 3B/RVL East won 2-1 over defending Champ Sauk Rapids 8/24 and beat the Mankato Twins 6-5 to advance to Final 4 and a clash in the undefeated MBA “B” Final 4 tilt against the Cold Spring Springers Friday 8/31 700PM. The Victoria Vics of Section 3B/RVL beatdown Dundas in 7 innings 13-2 before getting dropped to the losers bracket by Cold Spring 4-3. The Vics take on Red Wing Aces on Friday 8/31 at 730PM in the MBA Class “B” Final 6 in an elimination game with the Austin Greyhounds and Sauk Rapids Cyclones eliminated in the opening weekend of the Final 8 double elimination Tournament.
