In weekend action, the Prior Lake Jays took their first two wins of the season on the road when they traveled to Winthrop and Gaylord.
Against Winthrop, Jesse Scheidecker pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing 4 hits and striking out three. Travis Johnson was called in for relief duty and only allowed two hits. Dusty Olynyk was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI, While Scott Geisler was 2 for 4 with a three-run home run which capped the 8-3 win for the Jays.
On the way home, the Jays stopped in Gaylord to take on the Islanders in their first match-up of the season. The Jays started out early putting one run on the board in the first inning. Although the Jays only had 7 hits in their second game, they executed on baserunning and took advantage of several opportunties to cross the plate. Marshall Mullenbach (1.98 ERA) threw a complete game allowing two runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts while not walking a single batter.
The Jays continue their season with a Section Seating matchup on Wednesday night when the Green Isle Irish come to town for a 7:30 PM game at Veterans Field in Prior Lake.
