The PL Mudcats (2-3, 2-1 DRS) traveled to John Burch Park along the Cannon River 5/12 for non league exhibition Class C action with the Cannon Falls Bears of the Classic Cannon Valley League. The Bears have been a familiar non league and playoff opponent but the 'Cats came up short to the Bears 7-4. The PL locals stranded runners in scoring position in the 1st 3 frames and were down 6-1 after 7 complete but were able to post 3 runs in the 8th and left the bases loaded on a call strike call questioned by Mudcat management. Manager Greg Faue got the gate while the 'Cats narrowed the score to 6-4. The host Bears posted another run off reliever Ryan White to make the score 7-4 and with the PL 9 unable to bring another comeback attempt that's where it ended. Starting pitcher Andy Hanson, in his 1st game since returning from Evangel University Crusader baseball, had a fine 7 inning appearance yielding 2 earned runs while scattering 11 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6 Cannon Falls hitters. He faced 36 batters. Leading the 'Cats hitting were SS Casey Johnson who was 1 for 3 with on a double and a run scored to go with 2 walks and a RBI. Hanson chipped in at the dish with 1 for 4 with a walk, RBI and run scored while 1B Ryan White was 2 for 4 with a sharply ripped double. Adam Rezac, in his first Mudcat action drew a walk and scored while playing error free 2B and relieved at catcher for the last inning on Faues ejection.
