Is It Spring Yet? PLABA Updates (Lakers, Townball & MORE!)…

The Prior Lake Lakers are now at 2-2 in the SSC and were victorious in non league action VS Hopkins 4/21 to push their record to 3-2 overall. They have a makeup game with Bloomington Jefferson re-scheduled for Saturday 4/23 NOON with 3 SSC games scheduled next week M/W/F. The Wednesday 4/27 Game VS Apple Valley has had a time change to 7PM and there will be a FAN APPRECIATION DAY Special at the Vet Cafe’ of complimentary roast pork sandwiches courtesy of the PL Lakers Baseball Boosters. -The PL Jays & Mudcats both open the 2011 seasons on Sunday May 1. The Class C Mudcats of the Dakota Rice Scott League kick off ‘11 travelling to Veseli for 2:00PM DRS action with the Warriors. The Mudcats play in the DRS White Division with Montgomery, St Patrick and Shakopee with 2 teams advancing to Region 3 with 2 teams from the DRS Blue Division (New Market, St Benedict, Webster, Union Hill) and 2 from CCVL “C” (Cannon Falls, Hampton, Lake City, Randolph, Wanamingo, Northfield). The MBA Class B Prior Lake Jays will be opening 2011 at “The Vet” in Prior Lake hosting Belle Plaine in River Valley League action also starting at 2:00PM. The Jays remain in the River Valley League and will face the B teams twice (Jordan, Victoria, Chaska and 2 time Class B Champion Shakopee) but were forced to new Section 4 (Savage, Inver Grove Heights, Rosemount) and will play those teams thrice with a Final 4 to be hosted at PL advancing 2 teams to Super Section Play in Class B (Final 16) at a TBD Location of the following: Cold Spring, Chaska, Miesville, Dundas. The 8 Class B qualifiers play a double elimination touenament this season. The Class B & C State Tournaments will be hosted by Glencoe, Brownton and Hutchinson. Final schedules should be posting shortly and once again season passes for BOTH the Jays & ‘Cats will be $15 for the season AND include a complimentary concession item per month!

Vet Facility UPDATE: If you have not made it to Veterans Field this Spring fans are in for some improvements. PLABA funded coordinated with the City of Prior Lake on upgrades to the first base side of the diamond including a new paved, tiered fan area (Bring your favorite chair!) directly adjacent to the 1B dugout. Additional feature include fully turfed dual batting cages, training areas and widened 1B side bullpen area with 3 foot fence running the full length of the new area for the ultimate fan & player training experience. Further work and improvements on the area will continue through this season…
