PL Townball All Stars 2013

PL Jays second baseman Jim Schroeder (2-3, 2 2B, 2 Runs, 4 RBI) and ourfielder Adam Cress (0-3) found themselves on the winning side of the DRS VS RVL All Star Game 2013 at Veseli Ballpark. PL Mudcats All Stars second baseman Casey Johnson and outfielder Gary Mariscal as well Coach Greg Faue were unable to halt the RVL offense in a 6 run 1st inning and 9 run 4th that helped propel the RVL to the win. Congrats to our PL representatives for being selected.

The PL JaysVS PL Mudcats inter city non league exhibition will take place Saturday July 20 at 2:00PM. There will be full team introductions to kick off the special day and a special $1 admission charged. Pulled pork roast will be served in addition to the standard ballpark favorites at “The Vet Cafe'”, our full service concession. There will be prize drawings, music and a fun day to celebrate our hometown ball. **NOTE game was originally slated for a 4PM start time.

 

Mudcats Lock Upper Division in DRS White With Big Comeback Win Over Lonsdale 7/16

Lonsdale jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the top of the sixth. Prior Lake rallied with two in the sixth, 5 in the seventh, four in the 8th. Lonsdale scored three in the ninth to close out the scoring.

Jake Schmidt pitched 8 innings for the win. Brad Schoenrock pitched the ninth. Jerad Lehrer led the attack with four hits. Jake Lehrer had two key doubles and three rbi. Levi Schneider had two hits, Mason Holmquist had two hits.

Lance Anderson had two hits and a double for Lonsdale. Phil Tisdale took the loss for the Aces.

The Mudcats are down to the wire with St Benedict for #1 Seed in DRS White with a key showdown 7/17 at PL Veterans Field among the final regular season games.

Jays Dropped Twice in Non League Action, Preparing for Final Push in Section 3B Race.

Ryan Mestnik was 3-4 with a double leading the Jays who only mustered 4 hits vs Minneapolis Lakers pitcher Danny Miller. The lone other Jays hit was a single by shortstop Corey Goblirsch in the Jays 8th and Goblirsch bagged an RBI reaching on balls with bases loaded in the 9th inning off of reliever Timmy Miller. The Jays did tally 6 walks and 2 hit batsman but stranded 11 base runners for the game. Jays starter Nick Anderson gave up 4 runs in the 4th inning on 2 leadoff hits and a sac fly followed by 2 Laker hits and another sacrifice that was followed by a double with 2 outs. Pat Galvin gave up the final 2 Mpls runs in the 9th on a leadoff walk followed by an error and a 1 out single by the 9th hitter, Clark Boysen. Kyle Zweber tossed 4 scoreless in the middle innings giving up a lone hit and walk and striking out 3.

The PL Jays travelled to Goat Hill Park in Eagan to take on the Eagan Bandits on 7/16 getting clipped in non league exhibition action 5-3 on a late Eagan surge after 2 early leads. The Jays had the early 1-0 lead in the 4th on a leadoff double by secondbaseman Jim Schroeder who advanced on groundouts by shortstop Kyle Zweber and DH Scott Geisler and knocked in on an error at 2B that was ripped by firstbaseman Dan Schroeder. Starting pitcher Nick Anderson went 7 innings yielding 2 runs in the 4th inning to answer the Jays on 2 leadoff singles followed by a 2 RBI double by Pat Dockendorf. The Jays then posted 2 in the 5th inning to take a 3-2 lead on an estimated 342 foot HR to leftfield by catcher Chris Sticha which was followed 2 batters later by another solo shot, this hit by Jim Schroeder deep to CF estimated at 372′. The Jays bats were silent with LF Reed Zweber leading off the 9th with a full count single be he and reliever Mike Hadden reaching on error byt the shortstop but both were stranded. The Jays stranded 7 runners on the night. Eagan tied the game at 3 in the 7th on 3 consective hits off of releiver Mike Hadden and posted the margin in the 9th on a 1 out double followed a a 2 run blast to left by Eagans Peterson. Hadden gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 2 innings work. The Bandits Dietrich threw a complete game 5 hitter striking out 2 and walking 3 PL Jays batters.

 

Playoff Race On: The Jays are entering a critical final season push to try getting a win in Section 3B seeding games (0-3 of 9 games) with 2 home games (Thursday 7/18 & Sunday 7/21) VS 2012 MBA Class B Champion Victoria Vics whom the Jays beat twice in the regular season but did not play in playoffs due to Section format. The Jays rained out game 6/21 was re-scheduled @ Victoria for Monday 7/29. The Jays have 2 games remaining with Chaska and 1 with Shakopee to determine pairings for the Best of 5 Format for the Section 3B playoffs.

The teams of Section 3B, Chaska Cubs, Prior Lake Jays, Shakopee Indians and Victoria Vics have collaborated on a great deal to encourage fan support for the upcoming Section 3B playoffs. Section 3B is again playing a “Best of 5 Games” format pairing the #1 and 4 seeds and #2 and 3 seeds with home field advantage to the higher seed. The dates are August 2,4,6,8,9. with Seed Game 8/11.
