Section 3B Playoffs: Jays upset in Game 1; face elimination on Wednesday

By Justin Braun

The Prior Lake Jays fell to the Shakopee Indians 7-2 on Sunday in the opening round of the Section 3B playoffs.

A sacrifice fly by Tomas Lee put the Jays on the board in the top of the second to take an early 1-0 lead.

That lead evaporated when the Indians struck back in the bottom of the third after a PL error, a fielder’s choice, and a single, each scoring one run and taking the lead 3-1.  Jack Sievers then homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for Shakopee to further their lead.

Henry Brandt started on the mound first for the Jays, allowing seven hits and four runs (two earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking five. Brandt, also the seventh hitter in the lineup, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Lee and Brandt each drove in one run for the Jays.

After Victoria lost to Chaska on Sunday, The Jays will travel to Victoria on Wednesday night to take on the Vic’s in an elimination game.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
